What Planning Permission is required for Garden Cabins in Ireland
Do I need planning permission for my garden cabin / garden room?
So, you have picked out your ideal cabin from our collection but before you purchase you are unsure if you need planning permission to erect the cabin.
The general rule regulating developments in Ireland states that any building under 25 square meters and less than 3.9 meters high to the side or rear of your house does not require planning permission. As always, local rules may apply in specific localities or counties, so we recommend that you check with your local authority prior to purchase.
For cabins above the above size specification, planning will be required and the standard planning process should be followed prior to purchase of your cabin.
How does my garden cabin come?
Whether you decide to go the self-build avenue, or avail of our all-in service to also assemble your cabin on site, your cabin has to be delivered to your property. Your cabin will arrive at your property flat-packed. This means that all the main panels of the cabin are separated and packed flat for transport. This ensures that transport is quicker and easier, and ensures your cabin arrives at your property in perfect condition.
What size of garden cabins do you provide?
We provide a number of cabins in a wide range of sizes. Please see the cabins section of the website where all cabin sizes and specifications are detailed.

Are your garden cabins warm during winter?
Will my log cabin be warm enough to use during the Winter months? Our cabins and garden rooms are built from high quality timbers. Timber is an excellent insulator... while it is great for keeping a cool interior during the Summer, during the Winter months its it is a great insulator for keeping in the warmth, and along with the additional insulation in our cabins, your log cabin will be more than warm enough for you to use and enjoy during the colder months. This is one of the main reasons why timber cabins are becoming so popular.
How can I heat my garden cabin?
Can I put a heater into my timber garden room / garden cabin?

What maintenance does my garden cabin require?
I want to maintain my cabin to ensure it stays in the best condition for as long as possible. What do I need to do and when?
We understand that after investing in a cabin you will want to ensure it is kept in great condition so you can enjoy it year after year. It is important to understand that the life expectancy of any timber cabin heavily depends on how it is maintained.
The most critical area to maintain on your cabin/garden room is the exterior of the timbers. You should stain/maintain the exterior of your cabin at least every three years. This simple task will ensure your cabin keeps its new look, and remains watertight for years to come.
What kind of stain is best for my garden cabin?
Any type of garden timber stain can be applied to our cabins, however the best type of stain is one that penetrates the outer layers of the log to protect it from excessive moisture. We can recommend the most appropriate stain for your cabin should you wish to stain it.
